What is Somatic Yoga Therapy?
Somatic Yoga Therapy is a gentle, body-based approach to healing that helps you reconnect with your body, regulate your nervous system, and release stored tension and stress. Rather than focusing on performance or flexibility, this work invites you to slow down, tune inward, and develop awareness of what your body is holding.
At Keys to Hope, this work is grounded in a trauma-informed approach. This means your safety, choice, and comfort are always prioritized. You are never pushed beyond your window of tolerance, and every practice is offered as an invitation—not an expectation. We recognize that for many people, being in the body can feel unfamiliar or even overwhelming, especially when there has been past trauma. Sessions are paced gently, with a focus on helping you feel in control, supported, and empowered throughout the process.
Many of our experiences—especially stress, trauma, and emotional overwhelm—are not just held in the mind, but in the body. Somatic Yoga Therapy supports you in safely noticing physical sensations, patterns of tension, and areas of disconnection, while learning how to respond with care, curiosity, and compassion.
Sessions may include mindful movement, breathwork, grounding practices, and guided awareness exercises. These practices help calm the nervous system, increase emotional regulation, and create a greater sense of safety within yourself.
