The Healing Power of
Therapeutic Art
Therapeutic art offers a gentle, powerful way to explore emotions when words feel hard to find. Through creative expression, individuals can safely process experiences, regulate their nervous system, and make sense of feelings in a way that feels natural and empowering. Art-based modalities support emotional expression, self-awareness, and healing across all ages, especially for those who may struggle to verbalize their inner world.
Amy Carlson, MSW, RSW, is a Registered Social Worker with a Clinical Specialization, who integrates therapeutic art modalities into her work with children, youth, and adults. At a master’s level of practice, Amy uses expressive and creative approaches to meet clients where they are, fostering safety, curiosity, and growth. Her art-informed work supports emotional regulation, resilience, and connection—helping clients gently access, process, and transform their experiences in ways that feel meaningful and supportive.
