Allison's goal is to assist her clients with compassion and to honour what makes each person unique, empowered, and strong. The counselling modalities she is most drawn to are acceptance and commitment therapy, expressive arts, and cognitive behavioural therapy. She is also interested in integrating therapy animals into her practice and has certified her dog, Louie, as a therapy dog!
Allison’s approach will also aim to integrate aspects of attachment theory and polyvagal theory. She believes in a holistic approach to healing, growth, and change.
Her professional experience comes mostly from working in the post-secondary field with students from all backgrounds and walks of life. Working with college and university students to overcome adversity and support their mental health is what has motivated her to pursue the field of counselling.
